Hounslow Council

Clinical waste

Clinical waste might include human or animal tissue; blood or bodily fluids; drugs or other pharmaceutical products; swabs or dressings or needles or other sharp instruments.

We can remove clinical waste when referred by a district nurse or an authorised person from the local health service. The local health authority will meet the collection cost.

Needles must be placed in a cin bin, a small box used for safely storing used hypodermic needles. Any used dressings, pads and contaminants should be placed in a yellow sack.

Contact us to order these bins or sacks.

Collection days

Tuesday: Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth, and Osterley
Wednesday: Hounslow
Thursday: Hounslow West, Cranford, Heston, Southall and Bedfont
Friday: Feltham and Hanworth

Clinical waste in public areas

If you discover clinical waste, including syringes, in a public area, contact us and we will safely dispose of it. We are only able to remove waste from council-owned land.
