The Homelessness Act decides who is homeless and our duty to these people.
There are five areas or criteria that we investigate when we are considering what our duty is towards you:
homeless
eligibility
priority need
intentionally homeless
local connection
You will need evidence to back up the claims that you make when making an application. This can be a court order to show you are being evicted and birth certificates for any children you have.
Tackling fraudulent housing applications
You must tell us the truth and not withhold any information when making a housing application.
To protect people who are genuinely homeless, we will take legal action against you if you try to obtain social housing by fraud or deception. This is a criminal offence. We will refer your case to a housing fraud manager for investigations.
