Reminder about how to get rid of broken glass
We would like to remind all residents that broken glass should be wrapped up and placed in the black sacks for collection.
Please note: broken glass should not be placed in the recycling box. Loose broken glass placed in black sacks can cause serious injuries to the public and to our waste collection crews.
There was an incident where a member of the waste collection crews suffered a serious cut requiring stitches due to unwrapped broken glass being placed out in a black sack, despite wearing protective trousers.
We suggest that you wrap up broken glass securely in a newspaper.
Please make sure that any broken glass is fully covered to prevent any injuries.

SITA UK is responsible for the collection of all rubbish and recycling in the London Borough of Hounslow, whether you live in a house or a flat. Residents are now recycling over 34% of their waste, and this means that the amount of rubbish that we throw into landfill is dropping. This is great news for the environment, helping to reduce landscape destruction and loss of natural habitats and wildlife. It also helps to reduce emissions of methane, which is global warming gas with an impact 23 times stronger than carbon dioxide! Reducing and recycling your waste also helps conserve natural resources like oil, and save energy. So do your bit by recycling as much as possible.and reducing your waste.
