With support from Carbon Trust UK, we have developed our own in-house Carbon Management Programme which aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 2017.
Our aim is to reduce emissions from the following areas:
buildings
vehicle fleets
street lighting; and
waste.
The Carbon Management Programme has also helped us produce the Hounslow Carbon Management Plan for 2009-2017.
The plan provides a systematic approach in reducing our carbon consumption by setting out:
a target for the year 2017 to help reduce our CO2 emissions by 40%
the potential projects that will be implemented to achieve the identified CO2 reduction targets, reduce our carbon consumption and in return achieve financial savings
the strategic implementation and governance of the plan across the organisation.
The Hounslow Carbon Management Plan main focus is to highlight actions that affect council staff and members. Once highlighted, these actions will then be implemented internally across the organisation to improve the environmental credentials of the organisation.
This plan is important to all of our partners, residents, businesses and communities across the borough as it demonstrates community leadership in tackling climate change and greening our environment.
